1.) One of the techniques that the greats use is motives (motifs - even though I don't think that's not a real word, I guess neither is improvisationer). Garner uses a motif in his solo so that is a great place to begin improvisation studies - MOTIFS or MOTIVES or MO' TEEF as in He got MO TEEF den a lil bit! haha
